Thailand eSIM guides: data for a stopover, holiday or longer stay

A few days in Bangkok, two weeks between islands and a month in Chiang Mai call for different plans. Use these answers to choose your allowance and validity, then follow the relevant guide for the details.

  • Networks AIS, dtac and TrueMove H on our 1–20 GB packs
  • Short, busy trip 50 GB for $15.99, with a ten-day window
  • A full month 10 GB for $9.99, with top-ups available

Which network does your Thailand eSIM use?

The answer depends on the pack. Our 1–20 GB Thailand plans include AIS, dtac and TrueMove H. The 50 GB/10-day pack uses True Move 4G, while the 50 GB/180-day pack lists TrueMove H and dtac. Check the selected plan’s details when comparing eSIMs for Bangkok, Chiang Mai or an island itinerary.

How much should you pay for a Thailand eSIM?

Our Thailand range starts at $1.99 for 1 GB over seven days. For two weeks of moderate use, 10 GB at $9.99 is a useful starting point, with 30-day validity. Nomad’s equivalent costs one cent more. At 20 GB over 30 days, Airalo’s $18 plan costs $1.99 less than ours. Match the validity as well as the allowance: a cheaper seven-day pack will not cover a fortnight.

How much data do you need in Thailand?

Allow about 5 GB for a week of maps, messages, bookings and some photo sharing, with Wi-Fi for video and backups. For two weeks, start around 10 GB. If you will upload video or use a laptop hotspot regularly, choose more. Our standard packs support top-ups through your portal, so you can adjust once you see your own usage.

How you will use your phoneStarting point
A week of maps and messaging, with regular Wi-Fi3–5 GB
Two weeks of sightseeing and photo sharing10 GB
Frequent streaming or laptop hotspot useA larger allowance, based on your daily use

These are planning estimates from our Thailand data guide, not measured customer averages. A 5 GB allowance over seven days gives you about 700 MB a day; regular video can use that quickly.

Is 50 GB for ten days a good choice?

At $15.99, our 50 GB/10-day pack gives you plenty of room for a short trip with lots of photo uploads, video or hotspot use. That works out to 5 GB a day if spread evenly, with the allowance available to use as you need it. The key is timing: its ten-day validity starts when you install it, so save installation until you are ready to use the plan.

This pack uses True Move 4G and cannot be topped up. Nomad’s 50 GB / ten-day offer costs $12 compared with our $15.99; compare its network and setup terms alongside ours.

Which plan fits a month or a longer stay?

For a month in Thailand, choose a pack with enough validity before deciding how much data to buy. Our 5, 10 and 20 GB packs last 30 days and can be topped up on the same eSIM. If you are staying longer or making several visits, the 50 GB/180-day pack costs $54.99 and spreads one allowance across that whole period.

The 180-day pack starts on its first connection in Thailand and supports top-ups. Its 50 GB is a total allowance, not a monthly refill. The separate 50 GB/10-day pack has a much shorter clock.

Do you need unlimited data in Thailand?

Start with what you expect to do on mobile data. A fixed allowance is easy to budget for sightseeing and everyday browsing, and our top-up-capable packs let you add more when needed. If you stream or work online for hours each day, compare an unlimited plan’s high-speed allowance and hotspot rules with the fixed data you would buy.

Nomad’s ten-day unlimited package costs $16 on sale, with a $20 list price. Ubigi’s 30-day unlimited package costs $49 and includes 60 GB at full speed, then 2 Mbps for the remainder. Match the high-speed allowance to your usage.

When should you install your Thailand eSIM?

Our 1–20 GB packs and 50 GB/180-day pack can be installed over Wi-Fi before departure; their validity begins on the first connection in Thailand. Wait to install the 50 GB/10-day pack until you are ready to start its clock. After landing, select your Thailand line for mobile data and enable data roaming on that line.

Check that your phone is unlocked and supports eSIM before purchase. Keep your home line’s data roaming and automatic data switching off. Our Thailand plans provide data without a Thai phone number.

Choose a Thailand pack for the days you will be away. Installation comes by email, with no app or account needed.
